Who we are
The word “cazimi” is derived from an Arabic phrase meaning “in the heart of the Sun” when a planet forms an exact conjunction with our brightest star. It is here where planetary cycles begin anew - a symbol for fresh understanding in our lives. Cazimi Studio is a partner to those seeking to take a new shape or transform the feeling of a site. We are unique in our emphasis on performance and the integration of spiritual care as preferred design solutions rather than the construction of large scale physical structures which would have a greater impact on the planet. Observing the world like poets, threads of connection between disparate experiences can be discovered. Moving as weavers, these threads can be interlaced into a greater whole.
How we work
RESEARCH is the first step to understanding the human, non-human and environmental histories of the site through an intuitive research process which includes site visits, interviews and work with relevant archives.
GROWTH of trust then allows us to determine where there is a desire for transformation by developing relationships with partners and caring for their narratives.
CARE for the partners involved in the project is shown through the completion of a project which transforms how connections between people, architecture and environment can be experienced.
Ethos
Space is not passive.
There is no such thing as ‘blank’ or ‘open’ space geographically, visually or ideologically.
As visitors it is our loving responsibility to learn who is/was there before.
Everything is animate and all animacies communicate in their own way.
Seeking permission is a form of spiritual care.
Spiritual care is a vital part of a wholistic design strategy.
The process of working together is as important as the product.
The success of a work is measured by changes of state, transformations of perspective and opportunities for future generations to imagine.
Heartbreak is the public health issue of our time and considered in all projects.
Not all projects require a built environment or objects. Material production requires storage, water and oil.
Listening is the most valuable tool an artist and designer can use.
Let’s work together.
Share your dreams about your project and we’ll go from there.
